Eric Clapton - Layla

I will admit I was into Eric Clapton in high school, but that was a long time ago and I turn this off every time it comes on the radio. Not quite as fast as I turn off Santana, but pretty damn quickly. Last night I was doing the dishes and I couldn't turn it off, and it turns out, there's a reason it's always on those old guys' Top 20 lists.



P.S. All of the versions on YouTube that actually include video are of live performances in which Clapton has incorporated a saxophone and keyboard synthesizer into the final "ballad" part of the song and they all sound like background music for Demi Moore kissing someone in "St. Elmo's Fire."

Dolly Parton - Me and Little Andy

This was one of my favorite songs when I was little. My mom had it on a 45 and my sister and I would listen spellbound. It has the same effect on my kids now.

Although I don't remember thinking it was quite this creepy when Dolly did the little girl's voice.
